Visas for visitors
All visitors except citizens of the Arab Gulf Co-operation Council countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia) require visa. It is important to choose the correct type of visa according to the purpose of entry. Requirements do vary according to nationality and can change at anytime, so check with your embassy before travelling to the United Arab Emirates.
Passport must have minimum validity of six months when applying for an entry permit. A penalty charge of Dhs.100 a day is imposed on visitors who overstay.
Visit visa, transit visa are all single entry visas. Once a person leaves the country the visa is automatically cancelled. Some hotels and tour operators can arrange for visas.
Customs
There is no duty levied on personal effects but it is forbidden to import drugs and pornographic items. Non-muslim adult may bring 2 litres of wine and 2 litres of spirits as free allowance.
